A quote from Theodore Roosevelt epitomizes the “Spirit” of Rockbridge Breakfast Club associates and supporters: “It is not the critic who counts; not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles, or where the doer of deeds could have done them better. The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena, whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood; who strives valiantly; who errs, who comes short again and again, because there is no effort without error and shortcoming; but who does actually strive to do the deeds; who knows great enthusiasms, the great devotions; who spends himself in a worthy cause; who at the best knows in the end the triumph of high achievement, and who at the worst, if he fails, at least fails while daring greatly, so that his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who neither know victory nor defeat.”

We’re rounding the club house turn in the year as we put the first quarter behind us and commence focus on the next leg of the 2024 Rockbridge Breakfast Club marathon Derby. We set the pace out of the gate with organizational development on the Celebrate Rockbridge 24 community event and structuring of the Rockbridge Breakfast Club scholarships for persons pursuing careers in a trades discipline. If we want to wear a blanket of Flowering Dogwood (State Flower of Virginia) at the conclusion of the year it is important to maintain our focus and enthusiasm for the activities, we are involved in.

February 2024- Notes on a paper napkin!
2024 is beginning strongly for the Rockbridge Breakfast Club. In January we had a couple of excellent get togethers with great dialogue and a couple of informative presentations by Ramsey Trask of Mock Con 2024 and Dave Gowdy of the Washington Institute on the founding documents of the United States. We have designated a Scholarship Committee that is organizing our scholarship offerings for individuals pursuing careers in a trade discipline. Thanks to the proceeds generated by the Inaugural Prayer Breakfast staged last December we have over $8000 to begin this endeavor. An organizing committee has been formed for the presentation of Celebrate Rockbridge 2024 event this coming Summer.
That's A Wrap! 2023 In Review
2023 was a pivotable period for the development of the nascent Rockbridge Breakfast Club. By-laws were developed, a Board of Directors were selected, we became a Virginia Corporation and received a 501© 3 designation from the IRS. This designation enabled us not to be a dues driven organization but rather a minimum donation organization, affording our Associates the legally allowable charitable donation benefit.
