Our Story
The Rockbridge Breakfast Club is comprised of “People with a Purpose” who are offering positive contributions to the Rockbridge County community. The Rockbridge Breakfast Club meets on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of every month at the Pink Cadillac Diner in Natural Bridge. The Breakfast Club is a Virginia Corporation with a 501(c)3 designation.
The Rockbridge Breakfast Club initially began in the Fall of 2022. Last year (2023) saw remarkable growth and accomplishments for the Breakfast Club. Associate Donors/members doubled, by-laws were created and adopted, registered as a Virginia Corporation and a 501(c)3 designation was acquired.
Speakers who appeared at our monthly meetings included, among others, Lexington Police Chief, Angela Greene; Registrar of Voters Jackie Harris; W&L Mock Con 2024 Chairperson Ramsey Trask; David Gowdy of the Washington Institute; Commonwealth Attorney Jared Moon; W&L visiting Professor Lynn Uuzell; Congressman Ben Cline, State Senator Chris Head; Delegate Ellen Campbell; County Treasurer candidates Missy Whitesell & Michele Clark, Former County Supervisor Mack Smith and The General’s Redoubt Chairman Tom Rideout.
Projects and Programs were developed. A scholarship was created in memory of former Virginia Delegate Ronnie Campbell for students pursuing a career in a trades discipline. Nearly $10,000 dollars was raised for this initiative by the presentation of an inaugural Rockbridge Prayer Breakfast in December.
The Rockbridge Breakfast Club also created and presented the initial Celebrate Rockbridge event in July 2023. This free community event, with over 500 attendees, staged at Brewbaker Field in Lexington, was focused on honoring Rockbridge County first responders and recognizing veterans and small businesses within Rockbridge County. Activities at Celebrate Rockbridge 2023 included a firefighters tug-of-war challenge (Goshen VFD was the victor) a Disc/Frisbee Golf competition, musical entertainment by Wonder, food trucks and over 30 community vendors. We are currently in the process of organizing Celebrate Rockbridge 2024 at the Virginia Horse Center which will be held on June 23, 2024.
